I think I liked Valiant more than Tithe. Again, Holly's characters are easily to relate to and feel realistic. The only part that didn't seem to fit exactly was Val's reason for taking off. I understand the author needing something in Val's life that would cause her to flee to the city, but that was just strange, IMHO. I guess it could happen ... Seems funny saying that when writing about a fantasy novel. Otherwise, I liked Val's story, how she hooked up with her street friends, Dave, Lolli & Luis, had a true friend in Ruth and came to meet Ravus.
